Reviews and Testimonials

Throughout the clearly written text, Evans emphasizes Cheesman’s lifelong response to society’s warnings against everything from girls going on bug hunts to women exploring alone: she would go anyway. The attractive illustrations work closely with the narrative, highlighting exciting moments and underscoring important points.

Your visit was so fun and a big highlight for many of our students.

Christine Evans, with her wonderful read aloud skills and calm demeanor, was a ray of light for our 2nd and 3rd grade students when she read her beautiful books... The students were fascinated by Evelyn’s story, and afterward, I heard of many students who went out on bug collecting missions.
