Author visits light up students and inspire them in more ways than just writing.

If you need some help funding the visit, here are some ideas:

1. Check for local and national funding. For example, this list from Santa Clara County is regularly updated with grant opportunities for teachers. SCBWI offer a grant too. 

2. Work with your PTA/PTO on funding the author visit. An author visit is an on-site field trip with no bussing costs!

3. Ask if other schools in the local area are interested in booking the author too - that way you can share the travel and accommodation costs for authors traveling from elsewhere in the country.

4.  Can you fundraise within your school community? 

5. Is there government funding available for an author visit? If you're a Title 1 school there may be funds available to you.
